The bad news first:
So, a week ago my mom was admitted to the hospital for Guillian-Barre Syndrome, which is a very sudden and terrifying condition--the idea that my mother, someone who was training for her first half-marathon this upcoming weekend, might never be able to walk again because of a stupid infection was extremely depressing.
The good news about this situation is that she took to whatever they did to her for treatment very well. She's still pretty weak, but her antibodies stopped attacking her nervous system and from here on out it's all recovery and rehabilitation. She's been transferred to another ward in the hospital for the next few weeks, and will hopefully be able to go back to work when she gets out.
As much as I want to have my comic done on time, getting in to visit her as much as possible is way up there on my list over a lot of things.
The good news:
Or rather, the thing that I am looking forward to quite a lot. Next month, ~lacuna-purify and ~kiljax are getting married! This originally wasn't going to stop me from updating on time, but then a member of her wedding party had a tantrum and walked out 30 days to the date.
Even though it's really last minute, Alli asked me to take the bridesmaid's place and then asked me if I wanted to be maid of honour. Of course, I said yes, but that means that time not spent visiting my mother is currently devoted to planning the most awesome bachelorette party ever, and running around last minute with fittings and shoe buying and rehearsals, etc., so between those two things, I do not have a lot of time for comics.
I'm going to be trying to update at least once a week until the end of October, but I can't promise a solid schedule until then. It's super annoying, but it can't be helped. Sometimes life outside of work is more important.
