This picture is very, very, very far out of my comfort zone. That said, this is probably the best thing in my gallery, and I feel like I've made quite a breakthrough in terms of what I am capable of.
Anyhow--Watchmen. Read it. Now. Don't wait for the movie, and don't let this graphic novel pass you by.
Line art is done on bristol and scanned in three parts. inked with copic fineliners. Coloured using photoshop, and a mouse.
Characters: Dr. Manhattan (blue dude), Ozymandias (blond guy--I gave him his comic book hair as opposed to his lame mushroom cut in the movie previews), Rorschach (awesome mask guy) and Archie (adroable little owl shaped ship landing in the snow).
a;ldsjfaskdjk I've been wanting to get the books SO BADLY since I first read about the series on Wiki so so long ago. I think this and the movie might be incentive enough to go get the books and read them.

omg this is so totally different than what you usually do I LOVE IT. the realism really lends itself to your style. the cheek and jaw bones are probably my favourite part but the whole thing is fantastic. the colours are wonderful and the whole thing is just tjksadfhdfsdfydufyasudfya i would LOOOOOVE to see more things like this in your gallery *______*
YES SCORE! I"m so ready for that movie!!! And kudos for attempting this theme! Rorschach kicks some major ass! And I love the clocks theme in the background!
I had actually never heard of it until people started making a fuss about the trailer at work (I work at a comic book store). I mentioned it to my husband and it turns out that he and my sister in law had been big fans forever and read it a million years ago, which was incentive enough for me to read it. I'm sooooo glad I did.
There certainly will be. O.O I read watchmen and decided that I needed to do some art for it that wasn't cutesy animu stuff. In trying to do something more realistic I think I unlocked some sort of bonus level on the creative side of my brain and now i feel the need to completely overhaul all the concept sketches I've been working on for my husband's comic book. So yeah, much more coming. O.O Also, i just realized that it is 3 am and I have to work tomorrow O_O.
very very awesome. I JUST read the book like, two days ago, so this was a delight to see. I'm so excited for the film hahah. I'm sad you didn't draw Dan but that's okay
I really, really wanted to put Dan and Laurie in, but ran out of space. i didn't want to cover up any part of Rorschach >_< I had to settle for Archie in the bottom corner. I'll probably be doing more art with characters that I couldn't fit in.
I hope you do! with Hollis & them others too, maybe--god, all the characters were awesome pretty much. this is still fantastic, kjashfajksf Adrian and Jon look awesome. (and Rorschach, too.)
